Riff Raff’s Early Life

Riff Raff, born on January 29, 1982, in Houston, Texas is another story of grass to grace. Born Horst Christian Simco, he is the second born child in a close family of four siblings.

His father and mother are Ronald Simco and Anita Isaacs respectively. While his mom worked as a maid, his father was a war veteran who had served in Vietnam earlier.

Sadly, the war left his dad with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that hindered him from holding down a job.

It was because of this condition that Riff Raff’s family fell below the poverty level in their low-income household.

His mom and dad later divorced, a move that saw them relocate to Duluth, Minnesota.

To make ends meet, his mother had to take on multiple jobs. At times, she ended up working almost twenty hours every day while her husband stayed at home with the kids.

Riff Raff once stated that he never knew what it felt like not having to worry about money when growing up. He credits this for making him financially savvy today.

However, all this changed after he appeared on MTV’s reality show From G’s to Gents. It was here later that Riff Raff would get noticed for his unique style of rapping coupled with a larger-than-life personality.

Since then up till now, it wasn’t hard for him to attract attention from music critics and fans alike. This is again thanks to both his appearance and characterizing what some call “white hip-hop.”

The exposure gave him a mammoth following across various social media platforms.

As a result, he would later hook up with Simon Rex. Rex was very impressed after watching some of Riff Raff’s online freestyles. They did several collaborative works together and later formed a group called Three Loco with comedian Andy Milonakis.
